PGL Travel Ltd
Head Chef Job Vacancy in Southern France! Head Chef required at our stunning centre in the heart of the Dordogne region of Southern France.
We're looking for an experienced Head Chef to ensure the catering provision for guests and staff meets and exceeds the expectations of visitors to our residential adventure holiday centre Hameau Les Ages.
PGL Travel Ltd is the UK's leading provider of residential activity holidays and study courses for young people. Our guests spend their days canoeing, climbing, orienteering and going on excursions - building up quite an appetite!
Our Hameau-les-Ages centre is a converted, unspoilt hamlet set in 20 acres of grounds near Brive-la-Gaillarde in the gorgeous Dordogne. The centre has great access to excellent mountain biking, climbing and walking.
Our canteen-style catering operation prepares up to 200 covers per mealtime at the height of the season. Using as many fresh ingredients as possible, the Head Chef leads a team of Chefs and Catering Assistants to create nutritional, varied, balanced and tasty meals three times a day on a rota basis.
As a key member of the centre's senior staff team, the Head Chef will be responsible for food prep, kitchen hygiene and any associated kitchen administration. In addition, as Head Chef, you will be responsible for the training, development and day to day staff management of your team at varying stages of their catering career.
We're looking for a team player who is able to interact in a large scale environment with strong communication skills and a customer focus. We offer the opportunity to work in a rewarding, supportive environment with qualification opportunities available, including apprenticeships and NVQs.
Hours of work are based on a 6 day working week of split shifts. The majority of our guests are under 17 so our catering team rarely find themselves working beyond 8pm: leaving you plenty of time to explore the local area!
Working for PGL, you'll receive a competitive wage of £233.26 p/week plus all meals, on-site accommodation, uniform and insurance, return transport to resort from a UK pick-up point, access to training and qualification opportunities - all offered free of charge as part of your staff package.
This position is available immediately until September 3 2012 with the potential to extend your contract at another PGL centre in Northern France or in the UK until the end of November.
Closing date for applications: Friday April 27 2012.
PGL is committed to the principle of equality and diversity. We welcome applicants from all sectors of the community.
You must have the legal right to live and work in the UK to be considered for this vacancy.
The successful candidate will be subject to clearance from the Criminal Records Bureau, which PGL will pay for.
