This qualification has been designed to meet the revised food safety legislation that came into law in 2006. It is the equivalent of the Level 4 Food Safety Awards in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There is an emphasis in the qualification on identifying and preventing hazards and taking corrective action. People doing this qualification would normally have a very sound knowledge of food safety and have undertaken the Intermediate Food Hygiene Course or Level 3 Food Safety in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Whilst it is offered by different awarding organisations the Level 4 qualification will have the same minimum content. However, it may differ in that some awarding organisations have additional content or have different assessment methods
