Overview

The Level 1 Award in Introduction to Employment in the Hospitality Industry provides a basic introduction to a range of areas within the hospitality industry. It is designed as a short taster of different aspects of the industry and provides a basic understanding of the sector. 
People 1st have designed a programme 'Employment 1st', that prepares people looking for thier first job in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry. It covers 13 job roles – including chef, barista, travel agent, leisure and theme park attendant and conference/ exhibition manager – and leads to this nationally recognised qualification. Those who successfully complete the programme will also be signposted to jobs with good employers. 

What this course covers

Mandatory units:

  • Introduction to the hospitality industry
  • Food safety in catering
  • Principles of customer service in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism
  • Introduction to personal workplace skills
  • Health and safety in the workplace

Funding

This qualification is eligible for public funding but there may be specific criteria as to who is eligible and this may differ by nation.
