Overview

The Level 2 Award in Barista Skills addresses the broad skills required by a coffee shop barista, including grinding and using a traditional espresso machine. It covers an overview of the products making up the coffee and the techniques and knowledge required to prepare, present and serve the coffee. It also covers customer service.
It takes approximately 20 hours to complete the programmes, but learners may also require additional self-study time. It is assessed through a combination of course work and a short test. The Level 2 Award in Barista Skills complements the Level 2 NVQ in Food and Beverage Service.
