This qualification has been designed for those working in cleaning roles and provides a broad, but flexible content. It is mainly delivered in the workplace directly by an employer or through a workbased provider or college. Depending on the skills and competency of the learner it can take up to a year to complete the qualification. It is assessed through a portfolio, the delivery of which can be flexible to meet the needs of the leaner and employer and take into the context of the workplace. Much can also be done to minimise paperwork, using techniques such as photographs or video clips. SVQs are a popular workbased qualification with employers, because they cover such as breadth of skills and that the learner remains in the workplace.
