CAN I GET FUNDING FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT?

Don’t let a lack of financing hold you back from furthering yours or your staff’s development.

UKSP identifies the skills that make a real difference – both from an individual and employer perspective. Government funding is available to acquire these skills but at present the system to obtain this financial support is complicated.

In simple terms eligibility of funding is dependent on two keys factors:

  • The Qualification – its length and whether it meets specific criteria
  • The Individual - whether they have accessed educational funding before or have already obtained specific qualifications
  • The Good Qualification Guide clearly identifies whether the qualification meets the funding criteria. If the qualification is fundable then call our FUNDING SUPPORT LINE to ascertain whether the individual / individuals seeking the qualification will qualify.

    Funding Compact for England

People 1st have negotiated a major deal with government for hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism employers in England to help develop their employees.

The deal – known as a compact – is aimed at simplifying the rules behind getting access to the Train to Gain initiative (originally unveiled by the Government in August 2006).

The aim of the compact being to ensure that employers will have access to flexible, world-class training tailored to the specific needs of their business, delivered when and where they need it. This will be achieved through the provision of funding for relevant qualifications and some short courses, a sector specific Train to Gain solution and a simpler definition for how the sector's 180,000 businesses can achieve funded training.

People 1st are currently working through the technical detail of how the Compact will actually be delivered but it is envisaged that this simplified funding for our sector will be available from spring 2009.
